Job summary

Job description

Our client, a leading name in the aerospace sector, is currently seeking an Electroplater to join their Aircraft Landing Gear Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) team. This permanent role is pivotal in ensuring the surface treatment of aircraft landing gear components meets the highest industry standards for safety and durability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Understanding and interpreting process standard practices, drawings, and company job cards
  • Using the LTLGS Integrated Quality Management System IQ Move (training provided)
  • Material handling, including workshop gantry cranes and slings
  • Preparation of parts for electroplating, including masking techniques
  • Surface preparation using grit blasting techniques (advantageous but not essential)
  • Executing various electroplating processes such as Cadmium Plate, Dalic Cadmium plate, Nickel plating, Hard Chrome plating, Alocrom, Nital etch (acid etch inspection), and heat treatment of components
  • Completing work in accordance with technical instructions and quality standards
  • Maintaining compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements
  • Maintaining a practical experience record of completed jobs (PER) book
  • Potentially training personnel within a specified area subject to qualifications and experience
Job Requirements
  • Experience in machining and an understanding of processes and procedures associated with electroplating
  • Previous experience working in a plating shop environment
  • Familiarity with the environmental issues associated with the electroplating industry
  • Previous experience in an EASA 145 environment
  • Basic understanding of COMAH (training provided)
  • Ability to complete work to the correct quality standards
  • Basic education level (at least GCSE or equivalent)
