Job description
The Role

You will use your technical background in electronics engineering to effectively steer development activities, manage delivery timelines, and ensure solutions are robust, reliable and fit for purpose. Working closely with senior technologists and development managers, you will guide the team from early requirements capture through to successful deployment.

The role requires strong stakeholder engagement, including working directly with operational users, suppliers and partner organisations to understand requirements, assess feasibility, and deliver solutions to demanding timescales.

Responsibilities
  • Leading and managing an electronics systems development team
  • Planning and delivering a programme of electronics development projects
  • Engaging with operational stakeholders to capture and document requirements
  • Running project and technical meetings to maintain momentum and delivery focus
  • Managing suppliers, partners and external stakeholders
  • Monitoring project progress and reporting on delivery status
  • Supporting the manufacture, production and rollout of electronic systems
Qualifications/Experience
Essential
  • Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering
  • OR
  • HND in Electrical & Electronic Engineering

You must be able to demonstrate experience in:

  • Leadership and management of an electronics systems development team
  • Managing multiple electronics development projects from requirements through to delivery
  • Running project meetings and steering teams to deliver on time
  • Practical experience in devolving electronic solutions in at least three of the following:
    • General electronics design
    • Schematic capture and PCB design
    • Miniaturisation of electronic solutions
    • Embedded systems design (hardware and software)
    • RF systems design and analysis
    • Audio and communications systems
    • IP-based audio and video systems
    • Mechanical design and 3D modelling
Desirable Experience
  • Managing manufacture, production and rollout of electronic solutions
  • Allocating resources and managing project budgets
  • Liaison with suppliers, manufacturers and academic partners
  • Product evaluation and selection against defined criteria
  • Developing engineering teams to maintain current technical capability
