Job summary

A leading engineering firm in the UK is seeking an Electronics Design Engineer for a 12-month contract in Reading. You will design complex multi-layer circuits for electronic displays used in defence systems. The role requires strong PCB design skills, particularly with Altium, and the ability to work onsite with SC security clearance. Ideal candidates will have experience in regulated industries and a solid understanding of signal integrity and high-speed design principles.

Job description

An Electronics Design Engineer is required to join an established business in Reading, on a 12 month contract basis. The successful Electronics Design Engineer will be responsible for the design of complex multi-layer circuits for electronic displays used for defence systems.

Due to the nature of the work, the successful Electronics Design Engineer will be required to gain SC security clearance, and be prepared to work onsite in Reading, Berkshire.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong background in designing complex multi-layer PCBs
• Proficient in PCB CAD tools such as Altium, Cadence, Mentor (Altium preferred)
• Design and develop multi-layer PCBs between 4-12+ layers for complex electronics
• Good understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, EMC, and high‑speed design principles
• Experience working with IPC standards and PCB fabrication constraints

Desirable Skills

• Experience in highly regulated sectors such as medical, nuclear, aerospace, defence
• Rigid-flex or HDI PCB design experience
• C/C++ Programming for microcontrollers
