Job summary

A leading fire safety contracting firm based in Yeovil is seeking an experienced engineer to join their R&D team. You will design electronic systems for IoT-connected compliance products. Overview

This company is the market leader in fire safety contracting and compliance for the UK social housing sector. With operations nationwide and a central hub in Yeovil, they deliver large-scale projects for local authorities, including a multi-year, multi-million-pound contract in Scotland. Now spinning out a smart compliance division, the team is developing self-monitoring safety products that drastically reduce manual inspections and improve accountability across the sector.

The Role

You will join a specialist R&D and engineering team to design the electronic systems that power IoT-connected smart compliance products.

Responsibilities
  • Design and document PCBs and circuit layouts
  • Source components and optimise for manufacturability
  • Validate and test against compliance (EMC, LVD, safety)
  • Liaise with firmware, product, and mechanical teams
  • Collaborate with production partners and testing bodies
Must Have
  • Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or similar)
  • 2+ years of design experience
  • PCB design tools: Altium or KiCad
  • Power management & comms (IoT, LoRa, BLE, Wi-Fi)
  • Confidence working to safety and compliance standards
Nice to Have
  • Soldering, breadboarding, testing
  • Firmware/hardware integration skills

Salary up to £65k depending on experience + benefits
