Qualifications

We at JKR are recruiting for a brand-new position for a forward-thinking, manufacturing company! This is an exciting, permanent position for a skilled Electromechanical Technician to join our client's R&D team.

Electromechanical Technician Job Purpose

The Electromechanical Technician will be responsible for supporting the R&D team with the construction of prototypes and sample batches of proposed products, and assisting engineering staff with the testing and documentation of those prototypes. This includes respiratory protective equipment and hearing protection devices and may include other product areas in future. The primary job functions are to ensure that the workshop and laboratory facilities are maintained in good order and meet the needs of the team, that the necessary materials are on hand when needed, and to assist with construction and testing of prototypes in collaboration with the engineering staff.

Delivery
  • Organise the layout, material storage, and tool organisation of the workshop and lab areas in collaboration with the engineering staff, and ensure that the facilities are maintained in good order conducive to efficient working
  • Construction of electronic and mechanical prototypes, samples and test fixtures
  • Managing and executing the workflow for 3D printing, including setting up prints, washing, curing, removal of support structures and hand finishing the parts
  • Ensuring that all consumables (including 3D printing supplies, general workshop consumables, and office supplies) are in stock as required, in collaboration with the procurement team
  • Identifying and sourcing component parts for prototypes and test setups, in collaboration with engineering and procurement staff
  • Testing prototypes, samples, and production items as necessary, and documenting the test results. Engineering staff will provide training on specific test equipment and procedures as required
  • Other tasks as required to support the business when assigned by Senior Management
Quality
  • Ensure that all designs are implemented and tested rigorously, in line with the company’s ISO 9001 quality processes and the safety-critical nature of the products
  • Ensure that all defects and issues, in both hardware and software, are systematically recorded, tracked and resolved
