Overview

We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world’s leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as an Electrician. The role will be based in Glasgow and will require the successful candidate to be on site full time working a varied shift pattern.

The company works at the cutting edge of technology, creating more than 100 new inventions each year for customers in over 100 countries. It is at the forefront of designing and building world‑leading naval ships, delivering high‑quality innovative solutions. As part of a growing team, they are looking for a talented and experienced Electrician to join them in delivering eight Type 26 frigates to the Royal Navy.

Shift Pattern
  • Day Shift: Monday‑Thursday 7:00 am‑4:30 pm
  • Night Shift: Monday‑Thursday 8:30 pm‑6:00 am (includes a 33% shift allowance)
  • Weekend Shift: Friday‑Sunday 7:00 am‑7:30 pm (includes a 33% shift allowance)

All successful candidates will be required to attend a trade test in Glasgow in October 2025 and submit trade certificates after an initial phone call with our recruiter.

Main Responsibilities
  • Installation of a variety of types of cables (multi‑core, single‑core and coaxial) and electrical systems (junction boxes, fuse panels, consoles, transformers, switches, etc.)
  • Cable termination and installation of all electrical equipment
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Collaborate with shipbuilding teams to ensure timely and efficient completion of electrical installations
  • Ensure all work complies with safety and quality standards
Benefits
  • Shift allowance of 33% on both night and weekend shifts

    • Monday‑Thursday: 1.33 (time and a third)
    • Friday: 1.5 (time and a half for the first 4 hours and 2.00 (double time) for any hours thereafter)
    • Saturday: 1.5 (time and a half)
    • Sunday: 2.00 (double time)

About You
  • Modern Apprenticeship – SVQ 3 or equivalent
  • Relevant experience in a marine installation or major industrial installation environment
  • Understanding of all assessments, risk, PUWER & COSHH
  • Understanding of relevant trade drawings
  • Knowledge of tag‑out process and the correct proving dead procedure
  • Experience mounting electrical equipment & components
  • Experience earthing of equipment and termination of cables to workmanship standards
