Job description

Our client, a trusted partner to the UK Ministry of Defence, is looking for a skilled

Electrical Wiring Operator

to join the

Calibration & Maintenance Team

on a 12-month contract. This is an exciting chance to work in a dynamic, collaborative, and inclusive manufacturing environment where precision and innovation matter.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for diagnosing faults and repairing bespoke cabling to exact drawing specifications, ensuring the highest standards of quality and reliability. If you’re detail‑oriented, technically skilled, and thrive in a fast‑paced setting, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair cable assemblies to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Perform surface‑mount repairs on Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs).
  • Maintain and repair test and measurement equipment down to component level.
  • Conduct Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) across the manufacturing site.
  • Interpret technical drawings during fault‑finding activities.
  • Carry out safety system testing on test and measurement equipment in line with documented procedures.
  • Provide technical support to enable efficient servicing of STTE for production testing and repair phases.
  • Maintain a clean, organised workspace in line with best practices.
  • Ensure strict tool control and adhere to Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention standards.
  • Assist with the upkeep and maintenance of manufacturing aids as required.
What do you need?
Essential Qualifications (All three required)
  • Advanced Level or Level 3 Electrical Engineering / Manufacturing Apprenticeship
  • Level 3 academic qualification in Electrical Engineering / Manufacturing (e.g., ONC, Diploma)
  • Level 3 vocational qualification in Electrical Engineering / Manufacturing (e.g., NVQ)

Note: This is not required if a Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard has been achieved.

Preferred Skills & Experience
  • IPC 620 certification and Dynamic Cabling training (highly desirable)
  • Proven experience in electrical wiring and assembly
  • Previous experience within the aerospace or defence industry (advantageous)
