Overview

Electrical Inspector - Commercial Test & Inspection (2391)

Location: Portsmouth/Southampton (regional coverage—you'll become part cartographer, part compliance guru)

Salary: c. £50,000 OTE (£38,000 base, PLUS bonuses) and solid benefits

Hours: Normal working hours are days, however there are requirements for unsocial working to accommodate customer needs.

Here at PTSG we're an industry leading award winning safety specialist who operate across 5 areas, today we're going to focus on our specialist Electrical Safety division made up of PTSG ES, Guardian Electrical, Electrical Compliance and Safety.

PTSG ES specialise in fixed wire test & inspection (EICR's) of commercial and industrial premises. Whether that's a School, Hospital, Office block, Retail unit or something else no two days are the same.

In a world of inconsistency and lay-offs here at PTSG we're busier than ever and with our ongoing commitment to growth we're tendering for even more work. Due to this we're looking to increase Test & Inspection (2391) engineers. With financial security and the chance for personal development and career progression these are great opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Running full-scale inspections and tests on commercial and industrial fixed wiring and switchgear—and compiling EICRs that actually matter
• Spotting whats not quite up to scratch, logging it, and telling the story of what needs fixing—in clear English, not bureaucrat-speak
• Using testing gear and reporting software like a pro—precision meets efficiency
• Working independently, adapting daily, and keeping your cool—because each site throws its own challenges
• Staying on top of EICR standards (BS 7671, IET wiring regs, City & Guilds credentials) to keep everything above board

What we expect from you

• A minimum of around three years of similar experience—Test & Inspect, remedial repairs, or compliance-heavy work all count
• The proper qualifications: City & Guilds #removed# (or equivalent), NVQ Level 3, 18th Edition certificate—proof you know what you're doing
• A full UK driving licence—van not for decoration, but your mobile HQ
• You're detail-focused, self-starting, and professional—always thinking “what might trip us up tomorrow?”
