Job summary

A leading M&E Contractor in Northampton is seeking an Electrical Estimator to join their team. You will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive electrical cost estimates for MEP projects, managing proposals, and liaising with various stakeholders. The ideal candidate has proven experience in electrical estimating, excellent attention to detail, and strong communication skills. An academic background in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in electrical estimating within the MEP sector.
• Competent in reading and interpreting electrical design drawings.
• Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.

1st Step Solutions are supporting a M&E Contractor who have an opportunity for a Electrical Estimator on a permanent basis based in Northampton.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare accurate and competitive electrical cost estimates for MEP projects ranging from 500k to 20m+
Review tender documentation, specifications, drawings, and client requirements
Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams during pre-construction phases
Identify risks, exclusions, and opportunities to add value within the estimating process
Attend tender review meetings and provide detailed breakdowns and justifications
Build and maintain strong relationships with supply chain partners for accurate pricing and lead times
Participate in value engineering exercises and alternative proposals
Ensure compliance with current industry regulations, technical standards, and health & safety expectations
Contribute to post-tender negotiations and project handovers to delivery teams
