Qualifications

  • Strong fault-finding and communication skills necessary.

Location: Southampton surroundings
Salary: £32,680 – £38,300 +OT £54,100

We’re looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer to service, maintain, and repair diesel generators across customer sites and a rental fleet. This is a mobile, customer‑facing role with plenty of autonomy and the chance to work on a variety of projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine servicing and maintenance on diesel generators (customer‑owned and rental fleet)
  • Diagnose and repair faults efficiently
  • Conduct site surveys to assess service and maintenance needs
  • Participate in on‑call rota as required
  • Maintain safe, tidy workspaces and comply with Health & Safety standards
  • Follow ISO standards (ISO 9001, 45001, 14001, 50001) and support continuous improvement
Skills & Experience:
  • Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Diesel Fitting qualification (City & Guilds, BTEC, NVQ, or apprenticeship)
  • Proven experience servicing generator sets (FG Wilson, Cummins, or similar)
  • Strong fault‑finding and communication skills
  • Field service experience (advantageous)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • ECS/CSCS/CCNSG card preferred but not essential (training provided if required)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
