Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer: {PCB Designer}
Location: Andover, MA
This role will be Hybrid – minimum of 3 days on site Mon/Thurs in office – Normal Office Hours of 8-5 PM EST
>The ideal candidate will be expected to provide engineering level support on assigned and unassigned projects over the life cycle of new and legacy products. The team is kicking off 3 PCB Design projects and this professional will help lead 1 or more of the projects. They will also be responsible for mentoring/coaching junior electrical engineers. 8-10 Years experience is needed to be successful in this position. You will want to have a strong Electrical Engineer background to provide troubleshooting, testing and EE support as you are working in the R&D department. A strong Analog or Digital background in EE will support this role nicely.
Responsibilities
- Work within a global collaborative R&D team to create and improve printed circuit board designs usingence design systems (Allegro). (Other design systems are considered for this role.)
- Release projects to manufacturing by creating schematic design capture, new part numbers, detailed descriptions, and printed board assemblies (BOM structures) for new and legacy products or projects.
- Work within the Windchill PDM application tool to store fabrication documentation, schematics, gerber files etc.
- Resolve differences between design and fabrication requirements by making determinations such as modifying designs versus sending parts back to vendors.
- Attend regular team meetings, including engineering change order meetings in support of manufacturing & quality assurance analysis and correction of manufacturing defects.
- Work collaboratively with other engineering resources, project management, purchasing etc. and assist in applying core engineering concepts to solve complex, unfamiliar, and Client problems.
- Expected to work with minimal assistance, with an ability to suggest innovative solutions from streamlining processes to completing a backlog of tasks.
- Maintain product and company reputation by complying with applicable regulations and standards.
Competencies
- Good understanding of control electronic Products, specifically analog and digital circuits, and power electronics circuits with 8-10 years of experience.
- Ability to lead PCB specs release in qualification and in PDM.
- Support qualification of electronic components such as IGBTs, Magnetics, Thyristors, AC/DC capacitors, FAN’s, etc.
- Knowledge of test equipment, CRO, AC Source, DC Source, Auto transformers, Multimeters, Data loggers.
- Ability to design and implement PCB designs that meet electrical, EMC, Safety, mechanical, thermal and DFA/DFM requirements of the System.
- Ability to run independent tests, with good knowledge in basic troubleshooting of products.
- Ability to generate alternate solutions during feasibility studies during PCB modifications.
- Prior experience working with design packages and product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools is required (more specifically Allegro and Windchill PDM or similar type processes).
- Ability to work cross-functionally (i.e. with Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering, Project Management) is strongly desired.
- Detail Oriented: Able to accurately follow precise procedures and thoroughly complete assigned tasks by using strong follow-up skills.
Education & Other Skills
- 4 Year Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
- Knowledge of Ladder Logic Client Proficy Software or Modicon Control Expert Software would be ideal.
