Qualifications

  • Degree or HND (or equivalent experience) in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience using 3D CAD software (ideally CREO or NX).
  • Innovative and adaptable approach to problem-solving.
  • Knowledge of Def Stan 61-5 Part 6 and Def Stan 59-411 is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Produce drawings, design specifications, reports, and other technical outputs.
  • Assist in the validation and testing of systems and equipment.
  • Support the development of technical inputs for customer submissions.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Plan and schedule own work to meet project timelines.

Overview

Electrical Engineer – Telford / Hybrid Salary : £40,000–£50,000 per year Contract Type : Permanent, Full-Time (37 hours per week) Industry : Defence / Vehicle Systems Location : Telford, Shropshire An experienced Electrical Engineer is required to join a busy engineering team involved in the design and integration of systems and equipment at both system and sub-system levels.

This is a diverse role offering exposure to a range of vehicle platforms and technologies.

The position requires close collaboration with internal engineering teams and external suppliers, demanding strong communication, systems engineering expertise, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Responsibilities
  • Produce drawings, design specifications, reports, and other technical outputs that meet contractual and cost‑effective design requirements.
  • Assist in the validation and testing of systems and equipment, including the creation of test schedules and integration plans.
  • Support the development of technical inputs for customer submissions and project estimates.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure compliance with technical and quality standards.
  • Stay informed on technical developments and apply this knowledge to ongoing projects.
  • Plan and schedule own work to meet project timelines and budgets.
  • Perform self‑verification and peer reviews to ensure design quality and completeness.
  • Ensure designs meet criteria for: Safety Design for manufacture and cost, EMC, reliability, and maintainability.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree or HND (or equivalent experience) in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience using 3D CAD software (ideally CREO or NX).
  • Understanding of drawing standards (e.g. BS8888) and geometric tolerancing.
  • Experience in designing components and systems for both new and existing products.
  • Innovative and adaptable approach to problem‑solving.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project).
  • Knowledge of Def Stan 61-5 Part 6 and Def Stan 59-411 is desirable.
  • Experience using E3 electrical design software is advantageous.
