Overview

Multi-Skilled Electrical Engineer - Hydrogen & Electric Vehicles

Aintree, Liverpool (occasional UK & overseas travel)

We're looking for a hands-on R&D Engineer with strong automotive electrical experience and a background in multi-skilled engineering to join our growing team working on hydrogen and battery-electric heavy-duty vehicles.

This role isn't just about electrics - you'll get involved in electrical, mechanical, and hybrid systems integration across a wide range of prototype and development projects. Perfect for someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and being part of projects at the cutting edge of vehicle technology.

What you'll be doing
  • Designing and building prototype systems - from wiring harnesses to mechanical assemblies
  • Developing hybrid hydrogen-electric powertrains for heavy-duty vehicles
  • Hands-on installation, testing, and validation of components and systems
  • Setting up and configuring CAN-based control systems
  • Collecting and analysing performance data to improve designs
  • Working across disciplines - electrics, mechanics, controls, and integration
  • Collaborating with partners, suppliers, and customers in the UK and abroad
What we're looking for
  • Electrical / Automotive Engineering Degree - or equivalent qualification (IMI/NVQ Level 3+ considered with relevant experience)
  • Knowledge of high voltage electrical systems and vehicle architecture
  • Practical experience with both electrical and mechanical component integration
  • Strong understanding of systems such as batteries, BMS, inverters, motor controllers, thermal management
  • Ability to read and produce wiring diagrams and technical drawings
  • Comfortable in an R&D environment - building, testing, and iterating prototypes
  • Team player with good communication and problem-solving skills

Bonus if you have:

  • R&D experience in EV, motorsport, or hydrogen
  • ISO 26262 functional safety knowledge
  • 3D CAD skills
  • A real passion for clean-tech and future mobility
