Role Overview:

As a Locum Educational Psychologist with Hampshire County Council, you will provide high-quality psychological services across educational settings. The role involves both statutory and non‑statutory responsibilities, including contributions to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), early intervention, and systemic work with schools and partner agencies.

What you will do:
  • Undertake psychological assessments of children and young people across a variety of educational settings.
  • Provide high-quality psychological advice as part of EHCP statutory assessments within agreed timescales.
  • Produce clear, evidence-based written reports with practical recommendations.
  • Offer consultation to schools, early years settings, parents/carers, and professionals.
  • Design and implement evidence-based interventions to support learning, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Deliver training and capacity‑building activities for schools and partner services.
  • Work collaboratively with SEND services, health professionals, social care, and voluntary sector partners.
  • Participate in multi‑agency planning, reviews, and professional meetings to support positive outcomes.
Person Specification / Requirements:
  • Qualifications: Doctorate in Educational Psychology or an equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Registration: Mandatory registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist.
  • Experience: Proven experience working as an Educational Psychologist within educational or local authority settings, with essential experience contributing to EHCP statutory assessments. Experience in consultation, intervention, and systemic work is desirable.
