A local government organization in Grimsby is seeking an Education Transport Driver to safely transport children with special educational needs. The role requires a full clean D1 driving licence and a minimum of three years driving experience, preferably with larger vehicles. Successful candidates will engage effectively with children, parents, and school staff. This part-time role of 27.5 hours per week is focused on making a positive impact in the community, alongside a generous leave entitlement and pension enrollment.
Our Drivers transport children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) from their homes to a local schools at the start and end of the school day, ensuring their safety at all times.
You will be driving an automatic, long-wheel-based wheelchair accessible Treka.
You’ll also be carrying out daily checks on your allocated vehicle, keeping it clean and safe for loading/unloading wheelchair users and using special equipment, as well as, securing passengers using a range of restraint systems.
You must be flexible and creative with the ability to adapt in challenging situations. We are looking for somebody who can engage, communicate effectively and build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders, such as children with SEND, parents and school staff.
You will hold a full clean driving licence with D1 entitlement and recent experience of driving larger vehicles such as a 16-seater minibus (preferably with automatic transmission) will be advantageous.
The Education Transport Service is responsible for managing the council’s home to school transport services for mainstream pupils and more than children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) each day.
