SEN Early Years Teaching Assistant

Northwick Park, Harrow

The School and Role

A specialist primary school, a short walk from Northwick Park station are looking for a Early Years teaching assistant to support young people and children with a diverse range of needs including moderate to severe and complex learning needs, sensory processing difficulties and associated speech, language and communication difficulties, including autistic spectrum disorders. The TA would be in a class of 8 students with a mix of abilities and needs.

Not working 1:1 but happy to lead small groups when the teacher sets the work. Experience with ASD / ADHD would be ideal but someone open minded and reliable.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be based inside the classroom supporting students within education. Class sizes are small to ensure the needs of each pupil are met. You will be responsible for supporting their educational, social, and emotional development.

Requirements

The desired SEN Teaching Assistant will:

  • Have a caring, supportive and nurturing personality
  • Be available to start immediately and full time
  • DBS on the update service
  • 2 references
  • Have experience of working with those who are non-verbal, pre verbal.
  • Have relevant experience of working with children, young people or vulnerable adults within a education setting
  • Be someone who is patient, caring and adaptable to each young person you will support
