Overview

Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant Runcorn — Start Date: 5th January 2026. Contract: Full-time, until 22nd July 2026. Setting: Mainstream Primary School.

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking a dedicated and nurturing Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant to support a welcoming mainstream primary school in Runcorn. This is a full-time role running until the end of the academic year.

Responsibilities
  • Hybrid role with 1:1 support for a pupil with Speech & Language difficulties, helping them access learning, build confidence and develop communication skills
  • General classroom support, assisting the class teacher with group work, behaviour, daily routines and whole-class activities as required
  • Delivering tailored strategies to support Speech & Language development
  • Using visual aids, scaffolding and targeted interventions
  • Supporting personal, social and emotional development in the Early Years environment
  • Assisting with classroom setup, activities and maintaining a positive learning environment
  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team
Qualifications
  • Have experience working with Early Years children and pupils with SEN
  • Have, or willing to obtain an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS
  • Be able to adapt to the needs of the child and the class
  • Have strong communication skills and the confidence to work as part of a team
