Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking a dedicated Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant in Runcorn to support a mainstream primary school until July 2026. The role involves providing 1:1 support for a pupil with Speech & Language difficulties and assisting teachers with group activities. Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant | Runcorn

Start Date: 5th January 2026

Contract: Full-time, until 22nd July 2026

Setting: Mainstream Primary School

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking a dedicated and nurturing Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant to support a welcoming mainstream primary school in Runcorn. This is a full‑time role running until the end of the academic year.

Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with Speech & Language difficulties, helping them access learning, build confidence and develop communication skills.
  • Assist the main classroom teacher with group work, behaviour, daily routines and whole‑class activities as required.
Role Includes
  • Delivering tailored strategies to support Speech & Language development.
  • Using visual aids, scaffolding and targeted interventions.
  • Supporting personal, social and emotional development in the Early Years environment.
  • Assisting with classroom set‑up, activities and maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and the wider support team.
Qualifications
  • Experience working with Early Years children and pupils with SEN.
  • Willingness to obtain an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS – or already holding one.
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of the child and the class.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence to work as part of a team.
