Job description

We are expanding our ALS Team within Learner Support Services with a Dyslexia Coordinator and EAA Assessor role. The successful candidate will support a wide range of learners, implement strategies to remove barriers to learning, and ensure learners have the best possible chance of achieving their potential. You will complete initial assessments and personalised support plans for learners with Dyslexia, and ensure that any exam concessions are enacted by liaising with the ALS, Exams and Curriculum teams in line with JCQ guidelines. You will work with the ALS Team to promote a culture of developing student skills with assistive technology as part of normal practice. The post is full time, 37 hours per week, with a flexible approach to hours and a requirement to travel off-site to attend meetings.

Responsibilities
  • Complete initial assessments and create personalised support plans for learners with Dyslexia.
  • Provide support to a wide range of learners, implementing strategies to remove barriers to learning and support achievement.
  • Coordinate exam concessions with the ALS, Exams and Curriculum teams in accordance with JCQ guidelines.
  • Promote and develop student skills using assistive technology within the ALS team.
  • Travel off-site as required to attend meetings and contribute to cross-site activities.
Qualifications
  • Hold a postgraduate level 7 qualification in Assessing for Access and a current Assessment Practising Certificate.
  • Be educated to degree level and possess a relevant professional qualification.
  • Experience of completing EAAs for learners with additional needs.
  • Experience of working within a post-16 setting.
  • Experience maintaining a caseload of young people and setting targets addressing barriers to learning and supporting achievement.
