Duty Manager – Job Overview
As a Duty Manager, you will ensure the smooth operation of the hotel during your shift, delivering exceptional guest experiences in line with luxury standards. You'll oversee guest services, coordinate events and weddings, manage remote accommodations, and supervise valet parking operations. This is a hands‑on leadership role that requires flexibility, professionalism, and a passion for hospitality.
Key Duties
- Welcome and bid farewell to guests in a warm, professional manner
- Personally escort VIP guests and ensure their requirements are met
- Maintain a strong host presence throughout the day, liaising confidently with guests
- Coordinate valet parking and guest transportation between property locations
- Oversee events and weddings, ensuring luxury presentation and smooth service
- Host and facilitate daily morning meetings with heads of department
- Liaise with reception and housekeeping to prioritise arrival rooms
- Complete daily inspections of hotel facilities and remote accommodations
- Prepare daily reports summarising guest feedback and operational issues
- Handle complaints confidently and resolve issues promptly
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and fire procedures
- Assume responsibility for hotel operations in the absence of senior management
Qualifications & Skills
- Professional, approachable, and guest‑focused
- Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to lead and motivate a team
- Calm under pressure and solution‑oriented
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
- Previous experience in a duty manager or supervisory role within a luxury hotel or similar environment
- Exposure to a high‑volume hotel, F&B operations, and experience managing a team are desirable
- Keen eye for detail, organisational skills, and confident communication with the team
- Outstanding planning skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Familiarity with Health & Safety and Fire Safety procedures
- First Aid and Pool Responder certification (or willingness to train)
