Job description

We are looking for a highly organised and proactive technician to join our friendly, supportive team. This key role within our Design & Technology faculty helps ensure that practical lessons across food and textiles run smoothly, safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities
  • Proactively prepare and set up materials, equipment and resources for practical lessons throughout the day.
  • Check the timetable regularly to ensure teaching rooms are ready ahead of each food, textiles and D&T session.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and well‑organised working environment across all practical spaces.
  • Assist with the safe running, checking and basic maintenance of specialist equipment.
  • Apply Health & Safety procedures consistently across the department.
  • Support teachers with practical preparation to help raise student engagement and attainment.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a similar technician role is helpful but not essential.
  • Knowledge of food, textiles or broader Design & Technology would be an advantage.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively are essential.
  • A proactive, positive attitude and a willingness to work as part of a warm, welcoming team.
Salary & Contract

Grade 3 – full‑time equivalent of £24,483 – £24,717 p.a.
Actual Annual Salary: £19,685 term‑time only, 35 hours per week.

Contract: Maternity Cover (up to 1 year) – 35 hours per week, 39 working weeks.
