We are looking for a full‑time, permanent Driver Trainer to join our busy Screwfix contract based in Lichfield. If you’re passionate about road safety and enjoy teaching, we want you to help guide our drivers towards excellence. Plus, with a Monday to Friday 08:00 – 16:00 shift pattern, you’ll enjoy your weekends free to recharge! We do still ask for some flexibility on occasion; this is logistics after all.

You’ll be paid a salary between £41,499.82 and £43,122.85 per annum and receive 33 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays). What you’ll do on a typical day:
  • Ensure all drivers are fully trained on all transport vocational training, proactive safety training and compliance training, and carry out induction training for new colleagues within the Transport department – this includes CPC training.
  • Carry out training requirements in accordance with industry standards (e.g. VOSA, Tachograph Infringement, and EU hours and regulations).
  • Design and implement any new equipment training sessions (drivers/shunters).
  • Support the business needs by conducting periodic training as and when required (retaining of Tachograph Infringements and SAFED) and fuel‑improving training.
  • Assist with assessment and recruitment of new transport team members across the whole transport network.
What you need to succeed at GXO:
  • Essential – LGV C+E licence. Desirable – DSA, LGV instructor certificate, SAFED (safe and fuel‑efficient driving), Adult Education training certificate.
  • Ability to train, effective communication (both written and verbal), able to give clear instructions.
  • Excellent H&S knowledge with ability to keep accurate records with strong IT skills.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership behaviours and cross‑shift communication skills.
  • Flexibility with working hours and location to support the transport network.
