A local government authority in England is seeking a compassionate Meals on Wheels Driver to deliver hot meals to vulnerable adults every other weekend. This role emphasizes not just transportation but also the human connection crucial for clients' wellbeing. Ideal candidates will possess a valid driving licence and exhibit strong communication skills, with a focus on timely deliveries and client care. There is an expectation of reliability, empathy, and attention to detail, making an impact on the community a priority.
Are you passionate about empowering vulnerable adults and helping them lead independent, safe, and dignified lives? If so, this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for! Join us and be part of a team that truly values your contribution to transforming lives in our community.
At Sandwell council we believe in a supportive and inclusive culture where collaboration thrives. You’ll work alongside dedicated professionals who share your commitment to providing outstanding care and support to those who need it most. Every day brings new challenges—and the chance to make a meaningful impact.
You’ll be working 8 hours every other weekend, which works out at 4 hours a week. This role is ideal for someone seeking meaningful weekend work that fits around other commitments.
This is more than a driving job — it’s a lifeline. As a Meals on Wheels Driver, you’ll be the vital link between our kitchen and the homes of those who rely on us for nourishment, safety, and human connection. You’ll be delivering hot, freshly prepared meals to individuals who may be elderly, disabled, or recovering from illness — people who often live alone and look forward to your visit as a highlight of their day.
Your presence matters. You’re not just dropping off food — you’re offering a warm smile, a moment of conversation, and a watchful eye that could make all the difference. You’ll be trained to spot signs of concern and know how to respond appropriately, ensuring that every delivery is also a wellbeing check.
