We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Vale of Glamorganto assist with the appointment of aDriver - Environment & Housing, on a 4-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £12.21 - £15.48 per hour

Summary:

The Vale of Glamorgan Council is seeking a reliable and professional Driver to join the Environment & Housing team within the Operational & Support Services division. This role involves the safe and efficient transportation of personnel, equipment, and materials as required by service demands. The ideal candidate will play a vital part in supporting daily operations that contribute to environmental services and housing functions, ensuring community services are delivered effectively and on time.

Responsibilities:

• Operate Council vehicles in a safe, efficient, and courteous manner in line with road traffic laws and Council procedures.
• Transport staff, tools, equipment, refuse, or other items related to Environment & Housing services.
• Conduct daily vehicle checks, maintain cleanliness and report any defects promptly.
• Assist with loading and unloading items, ensuring secure transportation.
• Complete route sheets, vehicle logs, and basic paperwork as required.

Requirements:

• Full, clean UK driving licence Category B essential; Category C1/C (LGV) desirable.
• Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) preferred for LGV roles.
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE level or equivalent desirable).
• Proven experience in a similar driving or logistics role, preferably within a local authority or public service setting.
• Familiarity with vehicle checks, defect reporting, and basic record-keeping.
• Experience in working in a team-based operational environment.
• Knowledge of safe manual handling techniques and workplace health and safety.
