Position Overview
Role: Drainage Engineer (Nights)
Salary: £41,000 per annum + operating expense or overtime up to £8,000 based on experience.
Location: London.
Employment type: Full‑time, Permanent.
Working hours: 5 × 9‑hour shifts per week, Monday to Friday nights. Typical on‑site time 7:30 pm – 4 am, but may change depending on site location.
Reporting to the Remedial Team Manager.
Responsibilities
- Leak tracing and investigation on above‑ground water services.
- Repairing leaks on water services in service voids and risers.
- Removing and replacing small‑bore waste pipe on pot‑wash sinks, basins, urinals and similar fixtures.
- Replacing mixer taps, wash‑down taps and spray guns.
- Replacing toilet float lines and stack pipework.
- Removing and installing cast‑iron soil pipework.
- Assisting drainage operatives with cutting in pipe access to support blockage clearance and investigation works.
- Assisting other plumbing operatives with quoted works, both small reactive and large internal above‑ground drainage replacements.
- Supporting drainage operatives with internal drain descales.
- Using CCTV equipment to support leak investigation and record defect information.
- Collecting water samples to confirm the source of leaks.
- Supporting excavation teams with repairs on below‑ground water mains.
- Performing extensive descaling works for above and below‑ground drainage, including small‑bore and stack pipework via HPWJ, electromechanical milling, and hand coring machines.
- Conducting CCTV surveys, inspections and detailed investigations to fault‑find and provide practical solutions.
- Producing site drainage plans and identifying defects, design issues, pipe conditions and missed connections.
- Assisting specialist teams with lining, patching and rehabilitation works.
- Assisting with JetVac tanker works including line cleaning, root cutting and confined‑space entry.
- Supporting drainage teams with clearance and blockage works during emergencies.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of drainage experience.
- Minimum 2 years of plumbing experience.
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Willingness to support drainage‑related plumbing works.
- Experience working on commercial properties.
- Strong work ethic, good communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Team player, self‑motivated, disciplined and serious attitude towards health and safety.
- Attention to detail and customer‑focused attitude.
