Qualifications

Job description
Overview

As a Domestic Assistant you will be responsible for keeping wards, offices, and public areas clean to a high standard. You will work as part of the domestic service team, as well as part of the wider community within the hospital setting.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a high standard of cleaning in line with infection prevention.
  • Work from a daily/weekly schedule in both clinical and non-clinical areas to ensure the hospital is clean and patients have a pleasant and safe stay.
  • Carry out a range of cleaning duties, including:
    • Cleaning patients or service user’s room/ward
    • Cleaning toilets and bathroom areas
    • Cleaning communal areas, such as lounges, dining areas and corridors
    • Cleaning the utility room
    • Carrying out deep-cleaning operations in certain areas
  • Use appropriate cleaning equipment (e.g., vacuum cleaners, mops, electric floor cleaners) and cleaning products safely and effectively
  • Keep up to date with safety procedures (e.g., fire procedures and escape routes) and undertake required workplace training
  • Carry out professional duties in line with set procedures and standards
  • Ensure infection control policies are adhered to
  • Work as part of a team, using initiative to prioritise and organise daily duties while maintaining a professional approach
  • Ensure cleanliness of both clinical and non-clinical areas to the required standard
