THE FIRM

A US multinational law firm, with well established City offices.

THE ROLE

An exciting opportunity to join the London disputes team as a professional support lawyer (PSL).

You will have in-depth experience in English litigation and international arbitration, and be pivotal in shaping the future of the team's legal knowledge management and training, as well as offering technical guidance to its lawyers.

You will play a crucial role in fostering a collaborative and inspiring environment for continuous learning and growth within the team, across relevant practice groups and for clients.

The London dispute resolution team comprises several lawyers individually ranked as leaders in their fields.

The team represents clients in complex, high-profile cases spanning litigation, arbitration, investigations, and white-collar matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Knowledge Leadership: Act as a central source of legal knowledge and a trusted advisor for all levels of fee earners, supporting and enhancing their legal research capabilities.
  • Research and Advice: Assist fee earners with technical and complex queries and research, while encouraging self-sufficiency in research among team members.
  • Information Dissemination: Keep the team updated on new legal developments through internal bulletins and newsletters.
  • Precedent Document Management: Draft, update, and manage legal documents such as precedents, checklists, and practice notes.
  • Knowledge Base Maintenance: Manage the generation, collection, and upkeep of the team's knowledge products and online database.
  • Training: Coordinate and lead the team's structured training programmes, create training materials and conduct sessions for varied internal and external audiences.
  • Business Development Support: Assist with client-oriented and other external knowledge-related BD activities, including client alerts, seminars, workshops, and helping the team's lawyers to prepare for external speaking engagements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including Business Development and IT.
  • Although the role is largely London-focused, you will be expected to work with colleagues in other offices and across relevant practice groups.
ABOUT YOU

An England & Wales qualified solicitor with 6pqe+ in a fee earning role.

A solid track record of recent relevant experience in:

  • International arbitration (both commercial and investor-state); and
  • English commercial litigation, including an excellent working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules.
  • Experience in the Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT) is desirable.
  • Subject matter expertise in areas of English law that are relevant to the team's practice (e.g. privilege, conflicts of laws, damages).

Strong inter-personal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with others.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in creating and delivering training and seminars to diverse audiences.

Skilled in using online research tools and business software, willing and able to collaborate with IT to manage the team's training and knowledge database.
