Job description

Director – UK Energy Supplier

Location: United Kingdom (UK residency required), ideally hybrid of virtual and office location in Edinburgh

Type: Part time developing towards full-time | Director appointment

Starting point: ASAP - 1st January 2026

About the Company

A small UK-based energy supplier serving B2B customers is entering its next phase of development, supported by NovAzure. The company is being strengthened at director level to support strategic direction, governance and to ensure compliance as part of concluding official investigations with the regulator.

The focus is on building a compliant, stable, well‑run and scalable business with a clear commercial strategy.

The Role

The company is seeking a Director to take an active role in the business, working closely with the leadership team and board across compliance, commercial, operational and governance matters.

This is a hands‑on role for someone who wants to help run and grow the business, not just oversee it. While the role includes Board‑level responsibilities, day‑to‑day involvement in the direction and performance of the company is in scope, in line with the size of the business.

The successful candidate will drive the evolution of the business model, customer focus and internal capability.

Training and knowledge transfer will be managed throughout the leadership team, in particular the interim GM in a first phase to lead the director to run towards his or her full capacity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Help to sustain and optimise a more resilient, compliant and scalable organisation
  • Act as a director with operational as well as strategic responsibility
  • Support the development and execution of growth and customer strategy
  • Work closely with the leaders/board members to execute a plan with compliance and sustainable growth priorities; which includes:
  • Support regulatory engagement and compliance activities
  • Promote professional standards, accountability and transparency
  • Contribute to Board governance, decision‑making and oversight
  • Assist in positioning the business for future funding or investment
Profile

We are looking for an experienced and capable leader who wants to make an impact in a small but growing business.

You may have:

  • Exposure to regulated environments or complex operations
  • Operational leadership background
  • Experience in growing or scaling a business and ideally, experience in commercial activities
  • Interest in working in the energy sector (experience in the energy or utility sector is a must, experience in electricity supply in particular is a strong advantage, but not essential)

Candidates from outside the energy sector are welcome and will be supported in building market knowledge.

Remuneration

Remuneration will be aligned to the initial smaller size of the company and stage of the business and discussed with candidates during the process.

How to Apply

Please send a short message outlining your experience and interest alongside your most recent CV and indicate your salary expectations.
