Job description

DIO are looking for an experienced Area Manager with extensive Total Facilities Management knowledge across a complex and challenging infrastructure estate. This role can be based at RAF High Wycombe, Andover or Sandhurst supporting a regionally dispersed team. There is a requirement for effective stakeholder management for multiple high‑profile customers.

The Area Manager oversees the management and delivery of Hard and Soft facilities management contracts and is accountable for delivery of services and high value infrastructure projects. They are accountable for effective management of site teams, continued delivery of operational requirements, maintaining statutory compliance of the estate and sustaining a collaborative relationship with the customer and industry partners.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a key customer interface and Facilities Management subject matter expert across the area of responsibility.
  • Proactively address issues in a timely manner and escalation as appropriate, engaging other parts of DIO as necessary.
  • Ensure provision of a pro‑active site presence to develop and maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Deliver effective contract management of key suppliers, monitoring performance and escalated or cascading where appropriate.
  • Routinely update senior leadership on key site trends or potential issues to ensure early identification of risks and/or opportunities.
  • Act as the escalation point for issues raised and facilitate resolutions for significant operational/service delivery issues, using available data to inform decision making.
  • Effectively manage all site risks, ensuring consistent and timely documentation on the SPRITe Risk Register with appropriate mitigation plans in place.
  • Ensure Hard and Soft FM assurance activities are being undertaken to guarantee contracted services are delivered to the KPIs.
  • Provide facilities management expertise to commercial decisions and ensure all required approvals and authorisations are in place prior to additions or changes to the contracts, utilising the appropriate digital and data tools.
  • Provide support when requested to emerging department requirements.
  • Oversee effective and timely delivery of site‑specific projects.
  • Regularly review and report on contract deliverables, taking corrective action where necessary to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction are maintained.
  • Provide effective leadership of a regionally dispersed team to deliver a high quality and consistent level of service.
