Job DescriptionJob Description

Diesel/Shop Mechanic (York, PA)

Shift: Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 4:00pm

Pay: $25-$28/hr+ (Negotiable)

Responsible for performing scheduled maintenance and repair on equipment, including diesel engines, hydraulics and DOT regulated vehicles and performing preventive maintenance on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks. This position requires basic knowledge of vehicle systems to perform routine maintenance and repair.

Requirements:

  • Heavy Truck and Construction Equipment Experience
  • Must Have Complete Set of Own Tools
  • Minimum 2-5 years as a Mechanic
  • Clean Driving Record
  • Working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatic and electrical systems
  • Assist with accessing required parts and tools to perform work
  • Must be able to interact well with others and work independently, or in a team setting

Basic Job Functions:

  • Inspecting heavy construction equipment, attachments, heavy trucks and trailers for proper performance, and to detect faults and malfunctions
  • Diagnosing faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems using hand and power tools
  • Testing repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment
  • State Inspection of vehicles / trailers
