A local council is seeking a relief driver for their community transport service in Redditch. The role involves safely transporting vulnerable customers to various appointments, assisting with boarding and disembarking, and handling cash. Then why not consider becoming a relief driver for Redditch Dial A Ride. Dial A Ride operate a demand led community transport service for those unable to use public transport. The existing team consists of 4 fulltime drivers but we need casual staff to cover for absences so we can continue to meet operational requirements.
Dial a Ride operate in the Redditch area taking our customers on minibuses to appointments which can include medical, wellbeing, social, exercise and shopping. All routes are pre‑planned so all drivers must be able to follow a schedule with support from dispatchers.
Drivers must be friendly and approachable with good customer service skills and the commitment to providing an excellent service.
Drivers must be able to maintain customer confidentiality and have some awareness of safeguarding responsibilities.
The service provided is door to door, therefore has some physical demands. Drivers are regularly required to get on and off the bus with each fare to assist customers, which will include maneuvering wheelchairs and carrying shopping. Full training will be given for this.
The service is cash based so some cash handling is involved for collecting fares.
Our customers are among the most vulnerable so any applicants must meet the relevant criteria which will include an enhanced DBS disclosure.
Experience of driving in a professional capacity and/or working with vulnerable people preferred but full training will be provided.
Drivers must hold a current D1 driving license.
