In our Storage Development Operations team, you\'ll work across disciplines to drive the strategy, culture and structure that enable our success. This is a role based in our new Soho Place office (opened in 2023) in the heart of Central London and home to our Research Lab.

Role location and timing: London. Dates: 13 July 2026 - 16 July 2027.

Role and responsibilities
  • The Storage Platform Management team is responsible for designing, deploying and operating a diverse range of storage solutions, including high-performance scale-out clusters, block storage, object storage and archival.
  • The Principal AWS DevOps Engineer will design, implement, and optimise end-to-end DevOps processes that support software development and IT operations at scale, leveraging AWS, automation, CI/CD and related technologies.
  • Partner with researchers, software engineers, network teams and leading vendors to optimise workflows and resolve issues, and contribute to the team\'s development backlog (automation, customer-facing tools and observability enhancements).
  • Monitor and troubleshoot events affecting platform health; conduct deep-dive investigations and support incident management; analyse HPC workflows to identify opportunities for efficiency.
  • Operate, maintain and extend Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) pipelines and storage tooling.
Who we\'re looking for
  • Motivated student currently enrolled in a Computer Science, Mathematics or related degree with a placement (sandwich) year, graduating in 2028.
  • Predicted grade of 2:1 or above, or equivalent.
  • Interest in building and managing high-performance, scalable and resilient infrastructure solutions.
  • Linux system administration experience.
  • Proficiency in Python or similar programming languages.
  • Strong interest in GitOps and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), with exposure to tools such as Ansible, Jenkins and Kubernetes.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration across distributed teams and the wider business.
