Job description

As a Lead Deterministic Safety and Fault Studies Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the development of the Rolls-Royce SMR Power Station and ensuring successful completion of the Generic Design Assessment (GDA) and other licensing and permitting processes. You will apply Deterministic Safety Assessment (DSA) and hazards assessment to the design of the power station, influencing engineering decisions and contributing to the nuclear safety case.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain the deterministic analysis programme as part of the nuclear safety case delivery.
  • Advise engineering disciplines on deterministic considerations to inform design decisions.
  • Ensure quality and governance standards for deterministic analysis and associated submissions.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to meet deterministic analysis requirements and resolve gaps.
  • Undertake and present deterministic analysis in support of licensing efforts.
  • Train and mentor colleagues.
Qualifications
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Maths, Physics, or significant relevant industry experience.
  • Strong experience in deterministic analysis for Nuclear Power Plant design.
  • Knowledge of Pressurised Water Reactor (PWR) design and operation.
  • Ability to produce technical documentation, including fault schedules.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to work in multidisciplinary teams under tight deadlines.
