A leading IT solutions provider in the United Kingdom is seeking a Network Security Engineer to configure and install various network devices, perform system maintenance, and ensure security protocols are met. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting abilities, experience in network security, and skills in mentoring junior engineers. Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, SDWAN, Quality of Service (QoS)).
Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations.
Monitor performance, system resource utilization and capacity planning to ensure system availability and reliability.
Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues.
Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
Network security engineers work with a larger information security team to evaluate, test, and troubleshoot technologies. They’re expected to identify, diagnose, and resolve information security issues.
Based on findings, network security engineers write comprehensive reports including assessment-based findings, outcomes, and propositions for further system security enhancement.
To ensure proper protocols and processes are in place, network security engineers create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to server and security infrastructure.
Network security engineers play a role in devising comprehensive network security policies. This includes determining security issues that need to be addressed; identifying security strategies needed to deal with the risks; implementing policies for allocating administrative tasks; keeping on top of audit logs to flag suspicious activity; and devising network password procedures.
Keep strong relationships with integrators and vendors with regards to installations, technological advances, exploration of new features and functions.
Provide guidance, training and upskilling to team members.
