Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Design Lead for product direction and seasonal briefs.
  • Ensure timelines for range line sheets and tech packs are met.
  • Conduct in-depth research on global retail trends and opportunities.
  • Work on coordinated looks and trends through the design process.
  • Coach junior designers and identify training needs.

We are seeking an experienced and talented Menswear Jersey Designer to join our team. As a key member of the design department, you will be responsible for designing and developing contemporary men's jersey collections, including casualwear and elevated essentials, that reflect our brand DNA. Your expertise will help us stay ahead of trends in a fast-moving fashion environment, while maintaining our commitment to quality, craftsmanship, innovation, and fit.

To stay close to customers, our support teams are in the office three days a week as we believe that skills are developed through collaboration, and that spending time together makes us more creative and connected.

What you'll do

Your key accountabilities will include

  • Work with Design Lead to deliver global product direction for the category through seasonal Briefs and OTB opportunities and identify up‑trending and down‑trending products, categories, fabrics and items etc.
  • Work alongside the Design Lead, Buying and Technical teams to ensure critical dates for range line sheets and tech packs are met within the critical path building in key commercials alongside both forward looking trends.
  • In-depth research of the product scope including global retail research to trades fairs etc. as appropriate. Identify and communicate key opportunities and actions post trips.
  • Work with DL and Designers on coordinated looks/trends through the process as required. Work with Designers across C&H Design sharing trends to build strong XBU looks and lifestyles for the customer.
  • Coach and manage JD/ADs/Graduates, identifying and acting on training and development needs.
Who you are

Your skills and experience will include

  • Design handwriting and taste level to be in line with M&S style vision and in line with the M&S customer expectation.
  • Expert in the field of design with significant designer experience within the Retail and/or Manufacturing industry Strong understanding of fabric, fit, and garment make up to ensure product integrity.
  • Ability to work across multiple sourcing models (Tech pack/FSV).
  • Expert level of proficiency in Design related CAD software to include Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, In Design and PLM.
  • Multitask orientated with the ability to work to tight deadlines to the critical path.
