For almost 60 years, Nuttall has been one of the UK’s foremost specialists in the design, manufacture, and installation of retail and commercial environments. Based in Dudley, we deliver high-quality fit outs and craft precision sheet metal and wood fabrications for leading retail and hospitality brands.

We’re now seeking a Designer to join our Sales & Project Delivery team. This is a role for a creative thinker with a technical edge, someone who can transform customer briefs into innovative, functional, and beautifully engineered retail fixtures and environments.

What You’ll Do
  • Design innovative and visually appealing fixtures and displays that elevate retail environments.
  • Interpret customer briefs to create solutions aligned with brand identity and functional needs.
  • Produce accurate technical drawings and specifications for manufacturing.
  • Source suitable materials based on durability, cost, and aesthetics.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and clients to deliver projects seamlessly.
  • Build and refine prototypes to test design concepts before production.
  • Manage multiple projects from concept to installation, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
  • Identify and resolve design or production challenges efficiently.
  • Incorporate sustainable practices in materials and processes.
  • Prepare project documentation, drawings, and reports for stakeholders.
  • Maintain close client relationships, ensuring satisfaction throughout the design process.
  • Stay current with design trends, technologies, and manufacturing methods.
  • Represent Nuttall’s design expertise and uphold its reputation for quality craftsmanship.
What You’ll Bring
  • Proven experience in fixture design or shopfitting, supported by a strong portfolio.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Solid Edge (or similar design software).
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and material applications.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and clients.
  • Excellent organisation and multitasking ability.
  • A creative, solutions-focused mindset with technical accuracy.
