Designated Safeguarding Adviser
About the role

We are looking to expand our safeguarding team by recruiting Designated Safeguarding Advisers to work with our existing team of professionals to offer front-line support, immediate and professional advice and guidance to young people and adults through some of the most significant challenges they may encounter. You will be required to meet learners, triage support needs, make referrals to internal and external agencies such as college counsellors, the police, social services, youth services or mental health services. In addition, you will advise our teaching teams and faculty staff on the appropriate actions to best meet the needs of the students under the support of the safeguarding team and build/maintain close working relationships with families of students under the support of the safeguarding team.

This is a permanent position working 37 hours a week during term‑time (0.84 FTE), based at our Banbury and Bicester College Campus.

Responsibilities
  • Meet learners and triage support needs.
  • Make referrals to internal and external agencies such as college counsellors, police, social services, youth services, or mental health services.
  • Advise teaching teams and faculty staff on appropriate actions to best meet the needs of students.
  • Build and maintain close working relationships with families of students.
  • Provide comprehensive records to track the progress of safeguarding work and ensure statutory and legislative procedures are followed.
About you

You will have extensive knowledge and an excellent understanding of safeguarding policies and regulations and will ensure next steps are always taken appropriately and professionally. You will be able to use a person‑centred approach, show compassion and empathy, handle confidential information, build rapport and trust in individuals to assess whether they are at risk of harm from others or themselves.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Level 3 qualified.
  • Completed Advanced Safeguarding training in the last two years.
  • Previous experience in safeguarding.
  • Eligible to work in the UK (no sponsorship). Work permits from other organisations are unacceptable as proof of right to work in the UK.
