Design Manager
Location - Bedfordshire

An exciting opportunity for a Design Manager has arisen within Galliford Try's Infrastructure Business to work on our new highways development in the Bedfordshire area. Responsible for the management of design organisations and for the coordination, you will be contributing to an exciting new project in a fast-growing area of the business.

What you will be doing
  • Lead or support the Principal Designer organisational role in accordance with CDM Regulations 2015.
  • Act as Service Manager under the NEC4 Professional Service Contract, managing consultant performance with support from commercial and planning teams.
  • Support the Project Lead on design matters under the NEC4 Engineering & Construction Contract with the Client.
  • Develop and implement Design Management Plans, BIM Execution Plans and ensure processes and systems are operating effectively.
  • Coordinate design development, reviews and approvals with the Client, designers, construction teams, suppliers and third parties.
  • Support construction delivery through technical queries, design changes, material approvals and as-built information.
  • Monitor design performance, manage risk and support continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
  • Review and contribute to consultant's and contractor's cost forecasts, payment applications and quotations, and coordinate whole-life cost inputs to support design option appraisal and value decisions.
About you
  • Have a degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Be a Graduate Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers with demonstrated professional development.
  • Have a good working general and specialist engineering knowledge.
  • Demonstrable effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrable personal commitment to professional standards, recognising obligations to society, the profession and the environment.
