Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Bloxwich is seeking a Design Engineer to support engineering projects from conception to delivery. The successful candidate will provide technical and administrative support, ensuring project standards are maintained. Essential qualifications include an SVQ/NVQ Level 5 or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years' experience in a Mechanical Design/Manufacturing environment. Applicants must be UK Nationals and pass security vetting.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in a Mechanical Design/Manufacturing environment.
  • Completed EITB-approved apprenticeship.
  • Solid understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles.

  • Compiling, monitoring, and updating project plans.
  • Providing technical and administrative support across project phases.
  • Supporting drawing and parts list release/modification.
  • Generating procurement lists and raising RFQs.

Overview

As a Design Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting engineering projects from concept through to delivery. Working closely with project and procurement teams, you will ensure engineering standards are met and that technical and administrative project requirements are completed efficiently.

Responsibilities
  • Compiling, monitoring, and updating project plans, files, and status reports.
  • Providing technical and administrative support across project phases.
  • Supporting drawing and parts list release/modification.
  • Assisting during procurement, build, and test phases.
  • Generating procurement lists, raising RFQs and purchase orders.
  • Overseeing goods inwards approval and allocation to projects.
  • Carrying out additional project-related tasks as required by senior management.
  • You will be an organised and methodical engineer with a strong mechanical background and a hands-on approach to problem-solving. Collaboration and adaptability will be key to your success in this role.
Essential qualifications and skills
  • SVQ/NVQ Level 5, ONC/HNC (minimum Level 4), or City & Guilds T4/T6 in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Completed EITB-approved apprenticeship.
  • Solid understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles.
  • Strong background in design, engineering, and/or project administration.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, and Word.
  • Experience of at least 5 years in a Mechanical Design/Manufacturing environment.
