Qualifications

ORONA’s activities are focused on the design, manufacture, installation, maintenance, and modernisation of lifts, escalators, moving ramps and walkways. Operating in 100 countries, we have 330,000 lifts worldwide using our technology. With 2 manufacturing plants Orona is Number 1 in Europe in terms of complete lift production capacity.

Summary

Responsible for all design aspects of the lift installation including drawing production, customer liaison, installation teams liaison, design standards and personally delivers final Builders Working drawings. Provides responsive internal and on site design support and training.

  • Produces Builders Works, Engineering, Lift finishes drawings and sketches in accordance with company standards, best practice, legislation, H&S guidelines and the Lifts Regulations.
  • Understands, interprets and integrates Architectural and technical building drawings and information, and incorporates within a coordinated working design.
  • Produces designs with an awareness of timescales and deadlines in respect of customer requirements. Records design process on company software systems.
  • Assists in producing Operating and Maintenance Manuals, ‘as fitted’ information and regularly checks project completion schedules to ensure the O&M manuals are issued to customers in a timely manner in accordance with company practices.
  • Has responsibility for ensuring the customer fully understands the builderswork drawings and prepares the site to agreed drawings and attendances. Checks the site for compliance and advises any anomalies / proposals in writing to the customer. Completes site surveys to ensure site is prepared as per agreed drawings and schedules and advises customer on areas of non‑compliance.
  • Attends design meetings where required to liaise with the customer, Architects, project designers.
  • Responsible for attaining customer approval of builders work drawings and lift finishes.

Requirements
  • An accredited university degree or a level standard education and qualified to NVQ Level 4. Has an understanding of lift installation methods.
  • CAD – should be conversant in Auto‑CAD or similar design software.
  • Technical Drawings – fully conversant with engineering drawings and able to explain them to others.
  • Problem Solving – able to identify problems, break them down into smaller elements, pinpoint possible solutions, prioritise these different elements and construct an action plan for tackling the problem.
  • Innovative – shows good judgement about new ideas that will work and able to put them into practice.
  • Stand Alone – has the self‑confidence to be able to work with minimum supervision and be trusted to deliver work that is timely and accurate, right 1st time.
  • Communication – good communicator both orally and in writing, providing clear and relevant information to others in a way that they can understand exactly the true message that is being sent. Must also be able to select the right medium to use.
