A major nuclear project is seeking a Design Delivery Manager (DDM) to oversee the design of ancillary buildings and systems, ensuring compliance with nuclear safety regulations. You will lead a multi-disciplinary team and manage design configuration for a high-impact role that contributes to a significant project's success. The ideal candidate will have a degree in engineering, extensive nuclear industry experience, and proven leadership capabilities. Attractive benefits include annual leave, bonuses, and a defined contribution pension scheme.
We are seeking a Design Delivery Manager (DDM) to join our team. The DDM plays a critical role in delivering the design of ancillary buildings and systems for Sizewell C, from basic design through detailed design to site handover. This position carries nuclear safety responsibilities defined in the Nuclear Baseline and includes acting as an Intelligent Customer, ensuring all design activities align with the approved safety case and that suitably qualified personnel are involved. Reporting to the Head of Technical Contract Management, you will lead a multi‑disciplinary team and external designers, managing design configuration and maintaining stability across the project. You will establish and implement the Sizewell C Design Delivery Management operating model, set priorities and provide clear leadership to achieve results. The role requires independent decision‑making, strategic planning and resolution of complex engineering issues while ensuring effective configuration control and compliance with nuclear safety requirements. This is a high‑impact role offering the opportunity to shape design strategy, lead a high‑performing team and contribute directly to the success and safety of a major nuclear project.
What You Will Do as Design Delivery Manager? As DDM, you'll hold a key leadership position within the Technical Directorate (TD), managing the Design Delivery Management Team and shaping its strategy and operating model. You will be responsible for setting up, implementing and leading this function to ensure successful delivery of design activities for ancillary buildings and electrical systems not covered by the Nuclear Services Agreement. Working closely with the supply chain, you will oversee and accept design management activities, fulfilling roles such as Principal Designer, Client/Intelligent Customer and Contract Engineering Lead. Your focus will be on ensuring all design work meets safety, quality, time, and cost requirements. You will build and lead a large multi‑disciplinary team drawn from Sizewell C and our supply chain partners, providing guidance and support to achieve project objectives.
Leading by example, you'll set the standard for behaviours and values, driving collaboration and excellence across the team.
Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the Sizewell C Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project has started construction and is now seeking private investment. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.
