A civil engineering firm in Chesterfield is seeking a permanent Works Project Design Manager to manage design teams and handle projects for national clients. The role requires a strong background in civil engineering, excellent presentation skills, and the ability to prepare and manage design documents. Due to increased workload, we are looking for a permanent Works Project Design Manager who will join a dynamic, innovative, focused and engaged team, tackling our increase in Design & Build workload from a variety of key clients, including the Environment Agency, National Highways, Local Authorities and private clients.
Proactively managing a design team which may include Consultants and/or specialist designers.
Attending meetings with clients, including presenting, and discussing design ideas and solutions..
Preparation of design documents, briefs, reports, and management plans.
Development and management of design programmes
Reviewing design documents for compliance with scheme requirements, utilising gained knowledge and experience to advise on buildability and value engineering opportunities.

A civil engineering academic and site background which allows you to understand design principles and envisage how schemes are built.
Programming software skills and an awareness of applicable CDM Regs requirements
Soft management skills to encourage designers to provide on time, right first time, solutions.
An understanding of the need to work to accepted design processes, procedures, guidance, codes and standards and a general understanding of common construction specifications.
Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK
