The Dermatology Patch Testing Nurse is responsible for delivering specialist patch testing services to patients with suspected allergic contact dermatitis. This includes preparing and applying allergen panels, carrying out follow-up readings, providing detailed patient education, and ensuring accurate documentation. The nurse works alongside dermatology consultants and the wider clinical team to deliver safe, evidence-based, patient-centred care.

Main duties of the job
  • Prepare and apply dermatology patch test panels.
  • Perform 48-hour and 7296-hour patch test readings and document results.
  • Provide clear patient education before, during, and after testing.
  • Maintain allergen supplies and ensure proper storage and stock control.
  • Record all procedures and outcomes in the electronic patient record system.
  • Communicate findings to dermatology clinicians and assist with patient management.
  • Adhere to infection prevention and control and clinic safety policies.
