A leading healthcare provider in Basingstoke is seeking a Deputy Team Leader for the Pathology specimen reception. The role involves supporting the Team Leader, overseeing daily operations, and ensuring quality standards are met. You will lead the team, manage resources effectively, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential for this position. The service operates seven days a week, with evening and weekend duties compensated.
The Deputy Team Leader supports the Team Leader in the implementation and operation of Pathology specimen reception. As deputy, you will deputise for the Team Leader and together you will be responsible for this service, which operates 7 days a week.
You will motivate your team and work closely with the Operational Managers across Blood Sciences and the Team Leader in Specimen Reception to provide a high quality service that builds on the standards defined by UKAS (the accreditation organisation). You will ensure the smooth running of the service which includes the logistics of receiving the samples, booking‑in the samples and preparing them for the ongoing testing. You will be expected to develop and maintain close working relationships with your team, as well as scientific and medical colleagues.
The specimen reception is open 7 days a week, until 12pm on weekdays and during the day at weekends and bank holidays. Evening and weekend duties attract a pay enhancement.
