A children's care provider in Bristol is seeking a dedicated Deputy Manager to ensure high-quality, child-centred care. Our trained team delivers personalised care plans, therapeutic approaches, and consistent support, working closely with professionals to ensure holistic, high-quality care that promotes positive outcomes for every child.
We are seeking a dedicated Deputy Manager to join our children's residential home in Bristol area. Based at our facility, this role plays a pivotal part in ensuring the delivery of high‑quality support, child‑centred care that promotes safety, stability, independence and positive outcomes for all children in our care.
Support the Registered Manager in ensuring the home meets regulatory standards and delivers outstanding care. Provide strong visible, consistent leadership that models trauma‑informed practice. Oversee daily operations and lead the home in the manager's absence. Support staff recruitment, induction, rota planning and performance management.
Promote a strong and robust safeguarding culture where children are protected and heard. Respond to safeguarding concerns in line with Working Together 2018 and local procedures. Ensure all concerns, disclosures, or incidents are recorded, escalated, and responded to in line with safeguarding policies and statutory guidance. Ensure individual risk assessments, behaviour support plans and crisis plans are up to date.
Embed trauma‑informed principles: safety, trust, empowerment, collaboration and choice. Support staff to understand childhood trauma, attachment and behaviour as communication. Promote therapeutic approaches that reduce dysregulation and build emotional resilience.
Lead and monitor high‑quality placement plans tailored to EBD needs. Ensure keywork sessions are purposeful, structured and personalized. Attend LAC reviews, strategy meetings, ICPC/RCPCs and multi‑agency forums. Promote education, independence and positive relationships.
Provide reflective, supportive supervision aligned with trauma‑informed leadership. Facilitate team meetings, debrief and staff training. Promote staff resilience and emotional well‑being. Supervise staff regularly, providing reflective and developmental supervision. Lead team meetings, debriefs and handovers
Maintain accurate records, logs and reports. Support budget management and household oversight. Assist with admissions, matching decisions, transitions and discharges.
Minimum 2 years' experience in an Ofsted-registered Children's Home. Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare. Strong understanding of EBD behaviours and trauma-informed frameworks. Knowledge of Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards. Experience supervising or leading staff. Excellent communication and recording skills. Ability to build positive relationships with children with complex needs, trauma histories, or challenging behaviours. Excellent communication, recording, and organisational skills. Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and on‑call duties. Management experience within a residential setting is preferred. Compassionate approach with a focus on residents well‑being.
Working towards or willing to complete Level 5 Leadership & Management. Experience contributing to Ofsted inspections. Therapeutic training (PACE, Attachment, Restorative Practice, NVR, etc.). Full UK driving license.
Commitment to ongoing CPD and reflective practice
