Overview

We\'re Hiring: Deputy Manager - Ofsted Registered Children\'s Residential Services

We are seeking a committed and motivated Deputy Manager to support the running of a three-bedded children\'s residential home for young people aged 10-17 with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) and mild learning disabilities (LD).

About the Role:

As Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day leadership of the home, working closely with the Registered Manager to ensure the delivery of safe, nurturing, and therapeutic care in line with Ofsted regulations and the Children\'s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.

You\'ll lead by example, mentor staff, contribute to inspections, and help create an environment where children feel safe, supported, and able to thrive.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strong leadership to staff, ensuring high standards of care and compliance with Ofsted Quality Standards.
  • Lead and supervise shifts, ensuring consistency, safety, and child-focused care.
  • Support, develop, and supervise staff through regular guidance, appraisals, and mentoring.
  • Ensure effective safeguarding practices and reporting in line with policies and legislation.
  • Oversee personalised care plans, ensuring they meet the needs of each young person.
  • Contribute to Ofsted inspections and promote continuous improvement.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, colleagues, and external professionals.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure regulatory compliance at all times.

Qualifications
  • Level 4 Children & Young People\'s Workforce Diploma (or equivalent).
  • Working towards/achieved Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care.
  • Proven experience working in a children\'s residential care setting, with leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child development, and trauma-informed practice.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and flexibility to work a rota (including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-ins).
  • Resilient, compassionate, and committed to achieving outstanding outcomes for children.
