Deputy Head Nurse – Veterinary Hospital

Location: North East London

Salary: £37,000 – £41,000 per annum, depending on experience

Full-time Monday–Friday role with 1:4 weekend rotation (TOIL provided)

Opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art hospital with CT scanner, advanced surgery, and referral services

My client is seeking a dynamic and motivated Deputy Head Registered Veterinary Nurse to join and help lead their impressive team in a state-of-the-art hospital.

About the Role

This exciting position will suit an experienced RVN who is a natural leader, thrives in a fast-paced hospital environment, and prides themselves on delivering the highest standards of patient care.

Working closely with the Head Nurse, the Deputy Head Nurse will ensure smooth communication and coordination across the team, managing the daily hospital list alongside any emergencies that may arise. Responsibilities will also include:

  • Direct line management of senior colleagues
  • Supporting induction plans for new starters
  • Mentoring and training junior team members
  • Upholding the very best standards of patient care and comfort
About the Hospital

This hospital and its surrounding practices deliver an exceptional first opinion, emergency, critical care, and referral service, working to the highest clinical standards. The team regularly nurses a diverse caseload, supported by advanced facilities including:

  • A new CT scanner
  • Diploma-holder in imaging providing CT and ultrasound services
  • A strong medical team
  • Experienced surgeons performing advanced orthopaedic, soft tissue, and minimally invasive procedures
Hours & Rota
  • Full-time position, Monday to Friday
  • 1 in 4 weekend rotation with TOIL
  • Up to 2 bank holidays per year (pro rata)
  • Participation in the manager on-call rota (no hospital attendance required when called)
