Apprenticeship Details

This will be a 4‑year Degree Apprenticeship. Throughout the programme you will gain a technical and occupational qualification while earning a salary, receiving first‑rate training and tuition from Yunex Traffic and partner colleges, and enjoying a flexible benefits scheme including private medical care, discounted cinema tickets, gym membership and more.

Responsibilities

• Support building and maintaining AWS environments (EC2, Lambda, S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, ECS/EKS).
• Contribute to Infrastructure‑as‑Code with Terraform and help design scalable, resilient cloud architectures.

Deployments & Delivery

• Assist with automated deployment pipelines for applications, microservices, and infrastructure.

Autoscaling & Performance

• Help configure autoscaling, load balancing, and serverless scaling.
• Monitor performance metrics and support capacity planning and optimisation.

Security & Compliance

• Apply AWS security best practices (IAM, least‑privilege, encryption, network segmentation).
• Support vulnerability scanning, patching, and compliance checks.

AI‑Driven DevOps

• Explore AI‑powered tools like Kiro to enhance automation and operational efficiency.
• Contribute to predictive analytics, automated remediation, and intelligent pipeline optimisation.

Collaboration & Learning

• Work with developers, platform and security engineers to deliver reliable solutions.
• Document infrastructure and processes while developing skills through hands‑on engineering and degree‑level study.
• Be willing to travel to multiple Yunex Traffic sites across the UK for training.

Essential Skills

• Enjoy collaborating with others to find innovative solutions.
• Have a willingness to self‑learn, research and take a creative approach to problem solving.
• Possess good organisational and time‑management skills to assist in completing the academic qualifications and occupational skills developments within this apprenticeship.
• Take ownership of challenges and ideas.
• Be forward‑thinking and inquisitive.
• Whilst not essential, it would be a bonus if you already have experience with: Java, Databases, Cloud Technologies, and Kubernetes.

Basic Skills

• Have good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Demonstrate effective listening and teamwork skills, to create a collaborative work environment and strengthen relationships.
• Be IT literate; able to use Microsoft Office packages, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
• 4 GCSEs at 4 or above, including Maths and English (or Functional Skills/ Apprenticeship equivalent).
• 3 A‑Levels at grade C or above, or BTEC equivalent.
• A keen interest in embedded software and/or Electronic Engineering.
