Job description
Overview

This is a fast paced and exciting opportunity within a directorate unique within the MOD where you will contribute to maintaining an exemplary Data Protection posture and building the assurance regime.

The Defence Afghan Relocation and Resettlement (DARR) Directorate is an organisation set up to manage the process for identifying eligible Afghans who supported the UK mission in Afghanistan over the past 20 years to come to the UK, and once here to be assisted to begin their new lives with their families. It is important and rewarding work, supporting one of Defence’s highest priorities.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a Data Assurance Manager with special responsibility for Data Protection Impact Assessments and internal risk management.
  • Joint Local Data Protection Adviser for DARR, including breach investigation, with recourse to the DARR Principal Data Protection Adviser.
  • Collaborate with the DARR team and other Departments across Whitehall to ensure relocation and resettlement activity is compliant and cohered.
  • Refer to the TORs for each role for a full outline of duties: Data Protection and Assurance Manager.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrable experience interpreting UK legislation into a work environment and making decisions with reasons for those decisions.
  • There is consideration that no Data Protection experience may still be suitable if you have relevant experience in interpreting legislation and decision making; this is reflected in the role wording.
