Job description
Overview

We are looking for a motivated person who is interested in helping to provide a safe, high quality Endoscopy Decontamination service to patients at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford.

You'll work closely with the team to provide the best care for our patients working under strict guidelines and protocols. However once training has been provided, staff will look to you for advice and expertise regarding decontamination and best practice.

You must be conscientious and have the ability to give attention to detail. You will need to possess GCSE grades 9 - 4 (or equivalent) in Maths and English and have the ability to work to tight deadlines as the Endoscopy Unit is extremely busy with all three procedure rooms running to full capacity.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out the manual cleaning and decontamination of flexible endoscopes before and after Endoscopy.
  • Become an expert in decontamination, take a lead in the decontamination room, and manage equipment so that scopes are ready for morning, afternoon and evening lists.
  • Send scopes away for service and repair as required.
Qualifications and Skills
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at grades 9 - 4.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • Excellent documentation and record keeping skills.
  • Manual dexterity is an essential requirement for the role.
  • Experience is desirable but not required as full training will be given.
About the Unit and Training

The Endoscopy Unit provides a service to both outpatients and in-patients undergoing Gastroscopy, EUS, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy, Colonoscopy, Bronchoscopy EBUS and PEG insertion. The unit is currently open 7 days a week including weekends and bank holidays.

We will provide in house training and fully support your professional development.
